I’m very excited and proud to be part of this year’s DCist Exposed show. I’m really looking forward to also getting back into the local art scene and I’m thankful for this opportunity to show again. It’s only one image but one that I love. Please consider stopping by for the reception on February 20th. Check out the info below for more details! Hope to see you there!
The Gallery at Flashpoint Presents
DCist Exposed
February 20 – March 7, 2009
Opening reception: Friday, February 20, 5-9pm
WASHINGTON, DC – DCist is pleased to announce the third annual DCist Exposed photography show running
February 20 to March 7, 2009. DCist is partnering with the Gallery at Flashpoint to exhibit nearly 50 amateur and
professional photographers chosen from more than 300 entrants who submitted their work through Flickr.com. DCist engages and promotes emerging local photographers through the daily use of images selected from the popular reader generated DCist Flickr photo pool to enhance stories covering local news, arts and entertainment, politics, food and sports.
DCist Exposed showcases photographic talent that reveals the city through the eyes of people who live and work in the DC metro area. In a city too often seen purely as a collection of government buildings or a tourist destination, these photographers capture the local music, art, architecture and urban surroundings that give Washington, DC its unique cultural vibrancy.
A free opening reception will be held Friday, February 20, 2009 from 5 to 9 pm at the Gallery at Flashpoint.
Flashpoint is located at 916 G Street NW, in Washington, DC’s bustling Penn Quarter neighborhood. The 2007 and
2008 DCist Exposed events saw over 500 people attend each opening night, with lines forming around the block.
DCist is also bringing back last year’s special event for emerging collectors, Emerge Exposed, on Tuesday, March
3 from 7 to 9 pm at Flashpoint’s Mead Theater Lab. Co-hosted by DCist, Flashpoint and the Pink Line Project, a panel of experts will share tips and ideas on how to begin collecting art. All photographs selected and displayed at DCist Exposed will be for sale at prices well below traditional gallery shows. There will be a $10 suggested donation at the door.
